Hyderabad: BRS party working president and former minister K T Rama Rao on Friday responded to his comments regarding free travel in RTC buses. “If our women sisters are upset by the casual comments made at the party meeting, I am sorry. I have never intended to defame my sisters,” he said. With this, the controversy over KTR's comments has been resolved.

KTR made some controversial remarks against the women of the State at a party meeting on Thursday. He made crucial comments on free travel for women in the RTC buses. “We don't want stitches and knitting on buses. We don't mind doing break dances if necessary. Passengers are kicking for seats in buses,” he said. He also said the RTC staff was suffering. KTR commented that he wanted the State government to increase the number of buses. KTR was responding to a question on what was wrong with knitting, ginger, garlic and stitching by the women in the buses. Telangana Women's Commission has objected to KTR's remarks.

The Congress party resented KTR's comments. It called upon the party cadres to burn KTR’s effigies across the State on Friday. The Congress leaders expressed anger over KTR's remarks.
